At the height of winter Wilderness Club is a terrific place to go cross-country skiing just minutes from your home—and depending on where you purchase—right out your door. If you wish to take a short drive and go exploring in the Kootenai National Forest, the McGuire Mountain Trail stretches from 5km to 15km and is great for novice to intermediate skiers. Around 6km long Birch Creek is a pretty easy trail that provides access to the foothills of the Ten Lakes Scenic Area.
Ideal for beginners the Laughing Water Creek Trail is about 4.5km in length, and has excellent views of the Tobacco Valley, the Whitefish Range and Salish Mountains. In this region of Northwestern Montana there are hundreds of miles of public lands where you’ll find cross-country skiing trails. Wilderness Club owners can ask the concierge to arrange a day trip with Great Northern Powder Guides, who provides access to the Stillwater State Forest, Montana’s largest. Regardless of which trails you and your family take, you’ll look forward to returning to the Clubhouse to sit by the fire and savor a hot chocolate or cup of coffee.
